What Is The Treatment For Swelling And Bruise On Elbow?
I slipped and fell on ice today. I landed on my hip and elbow pretty hard. I don't think I hit my head but I got really dizzy and started losing vision for about 5 minute after my fall. I also felt really nauseous for about an hour. My real concern is for my elbow though. I am pretty sure it is not broken because I can move it if I try to, but it hurts VERY VERY much!!! It is slightly bruised, and only a little swollen. There is so much pain! I do not know if I should see a doctor for it, since I am pretty sure it is not broken. It hurts no matter what movement I do (even just moving my fingers to type this), and even hurts while not moving. What could be wrong with it that I would need to see a doctor for if it is not broken?
An xray of the injured elbow is needed to rule out any bony injury. If xrays are negative or normal, then an MRI scan may be necessary to diagnose any soft tissue injury (either muscle, tendons or ligaments). As your are having pain with movements and even rest pain, there could be a definitive problem either in the bone or the soft tissues.
So, I suggest you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for evaluation and further management.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
