What Is The Treatment For Swollen Legs And Pneumonia?
My brother s legs are very sollowen. I d say he s at a 4 plus for edema. He had surgery for pleurisy, about a week ago and is currently being treated for pneumonia and a MRSA blood infection. Is edema normal for these illnesses? Or should we be concerned that he may end up with fluid overload?
Thanks for your question on HCM. No, it is not at all normal to have edema feet after surgery. There are msny causes for this. I advice you some investigation for determining causes. 1. CBC. As blood loss in surgery can cause anarmia and this can be the cause. 2. S. Protein levels. As hypoproteinemia canbe the cause. 3. ECG and 2D Echo to rule out Congestive Heart Failure as a cause. So better to discuss these with the doctor. If all of the above are normal than it might be due to fluid overload. But we have to rule out other causes first.
