What Is The Treatment For The Thickened Toe Nail Lifted From The Toe?
My toe nail looks like it is dying...a small area is slightly pink and its angled. The nail itself is white in color, it has thickened. It feels like it is being lifted off my toe..it occassionally throbbs with pain ..theirs no swelling and its not hot to the touch..I dont see any wound , nor have I brused it nor I does it have an ingrown nail ..ive soaked it in alcohol and it doesnt hurt or burn..actually it feels like Ive placed an ice cube on it. WHAT CAN IT BE. Ive used keflex antibiotic baclofen and clindamycin phosphate and over the counter tripple acting antibiotic ointment..Im confussed at what Is happening. And its only one toe
Hi. As per your case history you are having onychomycosis with paronychia. It is a fungal infection of nails. My treatment advice is - 1. Apply an antifungal lotion like clotrimazole lotion twice daily on affected nails. 2. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain and swelling. 3. Take an antifungal tablet fluconazole 150mg once a week for 6 weeks. 4. Other treatment options are oral itraconazole, terbinafine and levofloxacin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
