Hello!
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!
I understand your concern and would explain that some drugs, which are used in migraine can cause photo sensitivity reactions under the sun exposure.
Common phototoxic drugs include:
-
Cholesterol preparations – statins
-Psychiatric and neuroleptic meds -
chlorpromazine, flufenazine, perphenazine, thioridizine, thiothixene, tricyclic anti-depressants,
-
Promethazine (anti-nauseant)
-NSAIDs (for pain, inflammation)
-Xanax
Triptanes (sumatriptan,
rizatriptan) should be used with caution too, because extreme heat can exacerbate their adverse effects.
Anyway, I would recommend avoiding prolonged sun exposure and extreme heat, which could trigger migraine attacks.
Hope to have been helpful!
Best regards,
Dr. Aida
