What Is The Treatment For Wrist Pain?

My so is 13 and his left wrist hurts when he bends or moves it and when he grips things. I put a wrist band on so he can not move it have iced it and put some topical pain cream on it. Now how long do we wait to go to the Dr. or am I doing something wrong?

Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
It looks like sprain.
Instead of cold compress hot fomentation once or twice daily will help.
In addition to topical cream you may add an anti inflammatory agent like ibuprofen
2-3 times daily.
You may wait for a week if there is no swelling.
If pain and swelling not improving with above treatment better go for an x-ray to exclude fracture.
Consult ortho surgeon if there is a fracture.
Hope this answer will serve your purpose
Please feel free to ask any more queries if required
Take care
