Hello.
First of all, my sincere advice is to quit
smoking, if necessary, seek professional help also. Smoking harms the lungs and not only worsens
asthma but also reduces efficacy of some of the asthma medications. This will be one of the most important step for you for a better lung health.
Apart from this, with proper understanding and correct use of asthma medications, you will be able live a normal life, including exercises, sports & adventures. So please do not worry.
Depending on the severity of asthma, you may have to take daily regular medicines or intermittent medicines on as & when needed basis. With passage of time, you & your physician will be able to decide minimum dosage of medications to control the asthma.
Unless you are particularly allergic to some foods, you may not have too much food restrictions. I would suggest to minimize
cold foods (cold water, cold drinks, ice-creams, etc) & sometimes spicy/fried foods (if you feel they worsen your
cough). Otherwise please try to have balanced & nutritious diet rich in vitamins & minerals.
I would also suggest you regular exercise, breathing exercises,
yoga & pranayama. Control
stress with relaxation &
meditation (stress may trigger an asthma attack).
Hope this was helpful to you.
Wish you the best of the health.
Regards.
