Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son who is 17 said his heart randomly started beating extremely fast. Then after what was probably 20-30 sec. his heart started beating very slow and gradually went back to normal. When his heart became slow he felt a rush of blood to his head and it caused a 4 second headache. Also he felt like no blood was being pumped and he couldn"t catch his breath. He has seen a pediatric cardiologist a year and a half ago and was told he has a concaved chest and a problem with his heart valves and a slightly inlarged heart. Asked to return in two years for another check-up. What do you think we should do.
hello, I have gone through your query. Thanks for using HCM. Actually fluctuating heart beats may be due to arrhythmias like atrial fibrillation and multiple extra systoles. As he was told that he has problem with heart valves and it was enlarged,I suggest you to get echocardiography as early as possible. It is possible that he has progression of his valvular problem.Further course depends upon report of echo, My best wishes Dr.Rajesh Teli,MD
