Hi,
According to your description:
-If there is any possibility of pregnancy, better to rule out abortion. So, please go for
blood test for pregnancy once. If the beta HCG levels are less than 5 mU/mL, the possibility of pregnancy and abortion can be ruled out.
-If there is no possibility of pregnancy and if you are having the history of
irregular periods, delay in periods can lead to
thickened endometrium and excessive menstrual flow with endometrial and
blood clots when the bleeding starts.
Usually the bleeding can become normal soon. If heavy flow persists, better to consult your Gynecologist once, get examined and go for an
ultrasound. With this work-up the possible cause of your problem can be identified and treatment can be planned.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
