Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
there is a white translucent film surrounding my stool, first happened about 8 hours ago. stool is loose and i feel like i have to run to the bathroom every five minutes. what could it be? i did not eat anything out of the norm, though i am at the end of my menstrual cycle. i have never seen this before. what could the white translucent film be?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. The translucent film on stool is due to excessive mucus production by intestines and usually in response to the intestinal infection; as also indicated by the need to go for bathroom frequently. This is not related to the menstruation. This can be due to intolerance to something that you ate or drank that you have to remember. This can be diagnosed by the following . Send the sample of loose stool for stool tests and if there is any evidence of intestinal infection get a course of an antibiotic, metronidazole and probiotics for you to get a possible cure. Watch for the water source, it is possible that your water needs treatment. Take plenty of fluids; use boiled and cooled water. Soft bland diet. A PPI like Omeprazole if there is any nausea or vomiting.
