What Kind Of Evaluation Is Required For A Fetal Alcohol Syndrome?
WE HAVE RECENTLY BEEN GIVEN CUSTODY OF OUR GREAT NEPHEW. HE IS 9 MONTHS OLD. HIS MOTHER DRANK THROUGH HER PREGNANCY. HE SEEMS TO BE ON SCHEDULE WITH ALL ACTIVITIES. SPEAKS A FEW WORDS, BUT HAS FACIAL FEATURES OF CHILD WITH FETAL ALCOHOL SYNDROME. HIS PEDIATRICIAN HAS NEVER MENTIONED ANYTHING, BUT PROBABLY HAS NOT BEEN TOLD BY HIS BIOLOGICAL MOTHER THAT SHE DRANK. WHERE SHOULD WE GO TO HAVE HIM EVALUATED.

To evaluate whether he has Fetal alcohol syndrome or not kindly consult a developmental paediatrician as they are experts in this kind of thing and if he fits in the syndrome he may require further evaluation to look for any cardiac involvement etc. He may require further follow up to look for his mile stone achievement and interventions.
