What Latest Treatment Is Available For Tinnitus Due To Neural Sensory Hearing Loss Associated With CLIPPER Syndrome?
I have suffered from tinnitus as a side effect of neural sensory hearing loss. This was associated with a rare auto-immune disease, CLIPPERS. I had a choclear implant in Sept of 2016. It had no affect on the tinnitus. Are there new procedures being developed ? If so what types ?
Tinnitus is common issue and most casuses are benign and temporary. However it this lasts for longer period then it should be evaluated. Tinnitus can occur due to causes like chronic ear infection, perforated eardrum, Eustachian tube dysfunction, Meniere's disease, TMJ disorders, Acoustic Neuroma etc. Tinnitus is not a disease in itself but it is a symptom that indicates that there is some underlying illness. I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Audiometry, x Ray MRI can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly. In case if ringing does not resolve then you can be advised medicines like Tricyclic Anti-depressant like Amitryptiline, anti anxiety medication like Alprazolam, as well as Multivitamin supplements can be advised.
