Why does the end of my toenails (the white part which you trim) grow straight up? My pink nail bed is extremely small also. They are very difficult to trim because of the extreme shape being the opposite of growing straight out or down. What is the cause? Is there a cure?
Hello Thanks for the query. Probably you have developed a fungal infection of nail bed, It is known as onychomycosis. Due to infection beneath the nail gets detached and starts growing upward. I treat such cases with a topical antifungal cream like clotrimazole to be applied twice daily for 6 months. It is safe and effective. Prolonged treatment is necessary as the nail is thick. Let me know if you have any other doubts. Thank you.
