What May Be The Cause Of Grainy Pink Vaginal Discharge?
I ve had a grainy pink discharge for the last few weeks, and this is very abnormal for me. Also there is a bad smell. The very bad smell began after I had an HSV outbreak, which I ve had many of, but this one ended w a bad smell that hasn t gone away. I ve never ever had an issu w bad smell or grainy pink discharge. It is impossible that I d be pregnant. What could be causing this?? I m freaking out. Thanks
Thank you for the question and I am happy to help.
A vaginal discharge with a bad odor is most commonly associated with an infection called bacterial vaginosis (BV). It is very common and associated with bacteria that are present that sometimes cause these symptoms. This should be treated with a vaginal cream called metronidazole or metrogel. You will need to get this from a doctor who, at the same time, should perform cultures and rule out other STD's.
I hope that this helps and good luck! Dr. Tim
