Hallow Dear,
External oestrogen supplementation does not alter the sex of the baby. The sex of the baby is determined by the chromosomal configuration of sperm and the egg. Hence, the sex of the baby is formed at the moment of fertilization of egg.
I am more concerned about your weak positive
pregnancy test. From your history, it is not clear, how many days after missing the period you have performed this test. Weak positive test indicates low hCG hormone in the body. This can happen due to:
1. Test performed too early. This test gives reliable results about 1 week after missed period; done earlier, it may give false negative or weak positive report. Repetition of the test after about 4 days will clarify the picture.
2. Recent
missed abortion where the baby is non-viable for few days (less than a week) and not aborted yet. This condition needs termination of pregnancy.
3. Ectopic Pregnancy:
Implantation of baby outside the
uterine cavity - most commonly in the tube. Such pregnancies do not grow, they rupture subsequently causing bleeding emergency when surgical intervention and transfusion of many units of blood is required.
Ultrasonography will help to clinch the diagnosis. Weak positive test with empty uterine cavity is suggestive of ectopic pregnancy. If diagnosed before rupture, it can be managed conservatively by Medicines like
Methotrexate.
Femilon contains Oestrogen and
Progesterone hormones which are increased in the body during pregnancy. Hence, this much dose of taking pills for few days should not worry you about the teratogenic effects on the baby.
Please report to your Gynaecologist ASAP for weak positive pregnancy test.
I hope this guides you appropriately.
