What Medical Condition Causes Continuous Diarrhea And Vomiting In A 74-year-old?

My Mother is 74 years old. She has continuous diarrhea and vomiting pretty much daily. She has had every scan you can think of and nothing can be found. Stool samples have been taken and comes back fine. Blood work multiple times and comes back fine. Do you know what could be possibly going on. This is just so very hard on her.

Hi,

You have not mentioned whether endoscopy and colonoscopy have been done for your mother. If not done then after consulting a gastroenterologist these investigations should be done to rule out any organic cause.

If these investigations have been already done and the reports are within normal limits, the cause may be irritable bowel syndrome. Consultation with a gastroenterologist and if advised consultation with a psychiatrist is required for further management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
