What Medical Condition Causes Light Vaginal Bleeding In A 56-year-old?

I’ve 56 years old and I’ve been having constant light vaginal bleeding for several months. My doctor has ordered an ultrasound and the night before my appointment I am to take 2 tablets of Misoprostol 200 mcg (per tablet). What would the reason for this be?

Hello,

As you are 56 years female with a complaint of bleeding per vagina. The doctor needs to evaluate you properly, like an examination of your uterus and ovaries by scan and vaginal examination.

Some time examination of the endometrium is also needed so they told you to take tab Misoprostol one day before.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Soumya, OBGYN
