Hi,I am Dr. Radhakrishna (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Medical Condition Causes Severe Pain In The Lower Abdomen?
I am having severe stomach pain that wraps around my lower back, so severe that it hurts to walk. I have had an ultrasound and they found a shadow in my left kidney which led to me having a CT, the results of the CT came back last week and the results were clean. I again started having severe pain in my lower abdomen yesterday wrapping around to my back and it hurts to walk.
Since CT scan of abdomen is normal and you still have pain in lower abdomen the possible causes can be as follows: Colitis. Typhlitis. Urinary tract infection. Enteritis. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Get stool and urine tested and if anything specific you can get it treated. Till then have symptomatic treatment with antispasmodic, analgesics and as needed. An opinion of a Gastroenterologist can help a lot.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Severe lower abdominal pain that wraps around the back with normal CT scan can be due to the following reasons: Entero-colitis. Urinary tract infection as this is not shown on Ultrasonography or CT scan. Hence I would advise you the following: Consult a General Surgeon or a Gastroenterologist for clinical examination.
Tests of urine: Routine, microscopy, culture and sensitivity. Tests of stool and blood. All these will lead to a proper diagnosis and gives a proper plan of management. Take plenty of oral fluids and watch for other symptoms. Take rest. Use only boiled for 20 minutes and cooled water and homemade fresh foods. Take antispasmodic medication.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
