What Medical Condition Could Cause Abdominal Bloating And Narrow Stools In A 17-year-old?

I carried my 17 year old son to the doctor because he was complaining about his stomach feeling full and that his stools have changed to narrow. we thought he might be constipated but the dr doesn t seem to think so. all of his labs were good except his bilirubin is 1.8 when it was .6 last year. She is trying to get us in with a gastro Doctor. I wonder what could be causing this?

Hello,

If there is persistent narrow or thin segment stool, possible issue with a left-sided colon can be possible as narrowing, tumor with secondary liver involvement or liver enzyme deficiency manifesting in late age causing raised bilirubin.

He requires thorough evaluation with lab tests, ultrasound and colonoscopy for definite diagnosis and management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
