What Medication Is Suggested For Lightheaded And Difficulty In Breathing After Exercise?

Hello, Was exercising yesterday at high intensity, then went to lay down to do the weights portion and experience dizziness as soon as I layed down. I sat up slowly, and I slowed down my pace and concentrated on breathing. Felt better but still feel lightheaded today. I'm 42 years-old so I was concerned since I still feel this way. No headaches or hard breathing or anything like that. Just some light pressure behind the eyes and slight dizziness which is uncomfortable for me. I thought to check my blood pressure (at the local Wal-Mart) and it read 141/70. My blood pressure has always been normal. Just checked it a couple of months ago, too, and it was fine. Any advice?

Hi,
Welcome to HCM!

If this has never happened before, then it was probably hypoglycemia which caused the symptoms. Hypoglycemia is decreased levels of sugar in your blood. Make sure you eat something few hours before going to the gym. This will ensure your body has the required glucose.

Your BP seems to be on the higher side. However, to confirm hypertension, get your BP examined atleast 3 times in the next 6 days. If it remains above 140, you will be required to take medications.

For now, I'd strongly advice you to limit salt intake and carry out your physical activity routinely.

I'd also suggest you to visit a cardiologist to rule out any heart condition, causing reduced effort tolerance.

Hope this information helps.
Feel free to ask if you have any doubts.

With regards,
Dr. Sridhar Reddy
