Chlamydia is an infection which is easily treated by antibiotics. In most cases, the infection resolves within one to two weeks. Partners are advised to abstain from having sex for the time duration of treatment and both partners are treated.
Coming to medications, it may be a a one-time dose, or you may need to take the medication daily or multiple times a day for five to 10 days. Usually azithromycin or doxycycline is given and if a strong medication is given at right dose it is sufficient to be treated with two pills.
