What Might Be The Reason For Palpitations Along With Severe Headache, Dizziness And Nausea?

I donated blood on Saturday and 45 mins later my heart was pounding, head hurting, sweating, dizzy and nauseous. I started to blackout but didn t. Went to dr on Monday, blood pressure 140/82, pulse 80, no eye or ear issues. Blood was taken on 6/4 and hemoglobin was 11.4. I now have pounding headache only when I standup or walk. When I lay down I m fine. Any ideas? PS. Not dizzy but I feel drunk when I m walking.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Symptoms you mentioned

-palpitations
-severe headache
-Dizziness
-nausea.

Possible causes for postural hypotension after donation of blood or anemia or BPPV or valvular heart disease or myocardial infarction etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. please check standing and supine blood pressure, drinks plenty of liquids, avoid high risk activities. Use tablet Vertin thrice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
