What Must I Do About Strong Odor From The Scalp And Hair After Surgery For A Brain Aneurism?

My wife had a brain aneurism in May. Her hair was absolutely normal both before and right after surgery. Recently her hair has had a very, very strong smell, somedays worse than other days. The smell is so strong it remains in the air when she moves around. She tried the baking soda treatment with little or no success. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
