What Needs To Be Done To Cure From Severe Pain And The Related Weight Gain Due To Thyroid?
I began getting an enlarged thyroid last may and also gained 15 lbs in a few short months. In July they discovered a nodule and i was given a biopsy where they discovered it was benign. Initially i had alot of pain in thyroid are and the back of my neck and now the pain is very very severe. My dr. never put me on any kind of medication for my thyroid even though i was very concerned about pain and fast weight gain. I've tried since last august to lose weight to no avail and i've always been a good weight for my height. What should i do for severe pain that isn't helped by extra strength tylenol and also weight gain??
Hello and welcome to health care magic forums. From your description I think you are having an infection of thyroid called deQuirvan's thyroiditis and related hypothyroidism. The weight gain is due to reduced thyroid hormones in your body. You most probably will have excessive sleep and cold intolerance as well. My advice is to go and visit an Endocrinologist and he will start you on Thyroxine after taking the blood tests. Thank you.
