What Period It Requires For Cure And To Return Back To Normal Activities After Open Abdominal Hysterectomy?

Our daughter age 46 is having an open abdominal hysterectomy in Oct. She has two fibroids - her MRI showed that one of fibroids is the size of a four month embryo. She was told that the average recovery time is 6-8 weeks. Her GYN said that she would only be in the hospital for two nights. She is a single mother with two children ages 15 and 9, and we are planning to come up from FL for her surgery and stay during her recovery. When may she climb a flight of stairs to her bedroom? The other question I have is when would she be allowed to drive a car? My husband and I would like to have a time frame in order to determine the length of time we should allow for her needs. Thank you very much, Pam YYYY@YYYY
