HBV carrier state persists for life. However, the infectivity of a carrier is very less as compared to those who have an acute HBV infection in those who have detectable Anti-HBe antibodies and are e-antigen negative. Since HBV can be transmitted sexually to your prospective wife, therefore it is advisable that your future wife is adequately protected against HBV with HBV vaccine. The Hepatitis B vaccine is safe and effective and is usually given as 3-4 shots over a 6-month period and is mandatory for people whose sex partners have Hepatitis B to reduce the risk of sexual transmission
