Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Precautions And Care To Be Taken For Nerve Damage?
I had an accident, which resulted in a large hematoma over my R knee. I had the hematoma removed surgically - dr. said it was about 1 pint of congealed blood. This surgery was 7 months ago. I have nerve damage and a vein popped out over my knee cap. I cannot kneel without pain. My doctor says there is no limitations on my activities; yet one day after doing lunges, my knee swelled up in a different area. Dr. says it will take at least a year of touch and go recovery. My question is: Is there a danger of overdoing my exercises or provoking further damage or more veins popping out?
with the injury to the knee the protective mechanism of the knee is disturbed. This increases the risk of arthritis of the knee much earlier in life. I would advice my patient to maintain a healthy body weight which puts less stress on the knee. Regular physiotherapy to strengthen the leg muscles. Light exercises which put less stress to the knee.
