What Prognosis Is Recommended For This Blood Test Result While Having Intramural Fibroids?
Hello Doctor , my mother has intramural myoma.Myometrium is homogenous and hypoechogenic SOL measures 1.6 × 1.4 cm. Both ovaries are normal in size and shows uniform parenchymal echogenecity and smooth outlines. There is no evidence of free fluid in the Pouch of Douglas. My mothers age is 48. Recently she caught cold and cough which lead to a short span of fever. The family doctor has prescribed a antibiotic for the cold and a blood test HB - 10.15 gm/dl RBC - 3.6 millions/ cu mm WBC - 6700 / cu mm NEUTROPHILS - 48 % LYMPHOCYTES - 44 % MONOCYTES - 1 % EOSINOPHILS - 7 % BASOPHILS - 0 % MALARIA PARASITE - NONE PLATELETS COUNT - 153000 ESR ( WESTERGREN S METHOD ) AFTER 1ST HOUR - 100 MM.This high ESR concerns me. Could you highlight the causes and proceedure to go forward
The fever is unrelated to the presence of the fibroid and so is the result of the blood test. The blood counts suggest a possible viral infection and hence the rise in the ESR. The tests can be repeated after a week and checked for first hour and also second hour ESR. There is no need to worry about the fibroid unless there are some symptoms. Since she is in the peri-menopausal age, the fibroid is likely to shrink after menopause. Monitoring is needed.
