Hi,
One functioning ovary is sufficient to have a normal reproductive life. The menstrual blood is a concentrated issue and hence looks darker, similar to venous blood. Unless you have an increased flow, foul smell or pain, you need not worry. You can get a culture sensitivity of the discharge to exclude infection. If the cause of removal of the other ovary was due to reasons like cysts of the ovary, please watch if the same condition recurs in the remaining ovary and get early treatment to retain this ovary. Else, everything is fine and please do not worry. Hope this helps.
