What Should I Do About Boils From Hot Oil Burns On My Knee When Scheduled For Chemotherapy Soon?
Hi I took something out the oven but didn’t realise I had oil in there and I slipped and oil got on my knee it has blistered up and popped I had put loads of cold water on it this was dinner time I also now put some cling foil on it, I’m having chemo last week, I’m worried about infections what else can I do?
Clean the area affected gently with running water for 10 minutes to reduce skin damage and inflammation. Do not pop the blisters or boils as they protect the skin. Cover the area affected with sterile but nonstick bandage loosely to avoid it from getting infected.
Since you have taken appointment for chemotherapy, you are advised to get the burn wound clinically examined by a GP in ER. Get the cleaning and dressing done in the ER on every alternate day or as instructed by the health care provider. Antibiotics and pain-relieving medicines will help with faster healing.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
