What Should I Do About Frequent Abdominal Cramps And Frequent Defection Everyday?

I have to poop up to 10 times a day. It has persisted since I got over Shegella nearly two years ago, followed by a massive internal yeast infection in my esophagus, stomach and intestine because of the antibiotics. Often I have clear or slightly colored little balls about the size of grapes in my stools. I also have almost no appetite, and frequent abdominal cramps. Any idea what this could be?

Hi,

Based on the symptoms you've described, it is possible that you may have developed a condition called post-infectious irritable bowel syndrome (PI-IBS) following your bout with Shigella and subsequent yeast infection. PI-IBS can cause symptoms such as frequent diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and changes in bowel habits, among others.

It is also possible that you may have developed an overgrowth of bacteria in your gut due to the prolonged use of antibiotics, which can cause symptoms similar to IBS. The little balls you've noticed in your stools may be undigested food or fat, which could be a sign of malabsorption. This may be related to your reduced appetite and the previous yeast infection you mentioned.

It's important that you see a doctor for an evaluation, as there are other conditions that could also cause these symptoms. Your doctor may want to perform additional tests such as a stool analysis, colonoscopy, or blood tests to help determine the underlying cause of your symptoms and develop an appropriate treatment plan.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
