Hello,
Maintain hygiene. Take bath / shower regularly. Apply a water based herbal moisturizer or a thin layer of Lacto-
calamine lotion to ensure your skin is not dry. Change your clothes from inside -out daily. Avoid
stress, both emotional and physical. Since you are worried about
cholestasis, discuss your symptoms with your treating gynecologist.
Get all required tests done. In case you are diagnosed with cholestasis of
pregnancy (ICP), dietary changes can help manage the condition alongside medical treatment. Do not take fatty or fried food, avoid taking high processed or sugary food. Do not take packaged food. Increase fiber intake and take food rich in
vitamin E like nuts, spinach, avocados. Take vitamin B rich food like whole grains, eggs, and leafy greens.
Take liver friendly food. Do not smoke avoid taking alcohol. Plan your daily diet with a registered nutritionist and your treating gynecologist. Take nutrient dense balanced diet. Cholestasis often requires medical management to ensure both your health and your baby's well-being. Keep yourself well hydrated and take adequate rest and quality sleep at night.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
