What Should I Do About Persistent Bulge On My Right Side And Intermittent But Severe, Sharp Pains On Both Sides?

I have a bit of a bulge on my right hand side. It never goes down. When I have to use the bathroom room I get sharp pains up my left and right hand side. I have been to many GI doctors and none of them have solved my issues with this problem. I can be sitting standing or even walking and the sharp pains come out of no where. They are extremely painful. I am due for a CT scan and I just have a feeling that it will show nothing to my issues that I am having.

Hello,

Persistent bulges and sharp pains can be due to various causes, including muscle strains, or issues related to internal organs like the appendix, liver dysfunction or gallbladder. Other possibilities might include conditions related to the digestive system, gastritis, IBS, etc., or even nerve-related issues.

Get clinically examined by a GP, get blood tests, LFT's, required imaging tests (USG, CT / MRI) done to detect the pathology causing you symptoms. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected. At present, you are advised to take PPI's, once daily in the morning for five days to get relieve from your pain and discomfort.

Avoid constipation, take laxatives if needed & include fiber in your diet. Avoid sedentary lifestyle, do walking and exercises. Keep yourself well hydrated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
