What Should I Do To Clear Upper Sinus Before Maintenance Treatment?

I feel I have a serious sinus problem. I have been to the ent drs and still get no help. My head is so stopped up and I never get any relief..... this has been going on for a long time. The ENT did allergy test and tried the shots but I strongly feel I need help to clear the upper sinus before maintenance treatment. It is so bad that it brings me to tears..... it has now reached a point where my ears ring, my ears are stopped up and have not unstopped for a long time. I feel no one takes me serious and when they look at me, they think I'm fine because on the outside, I look fine. How do I get a doctor to take this more serious? I strongly feel I need antibiotics to clear this up but the doctors just want to give me nasal steroid sprays which do not help. This is ruining my every day life. I have tried several times to boil water full of salt and sniff the steam but I get no relief from that.... I think the problem is beyond where the steam may reach. All the pressure seems to be in the forehead, behind my eyes, and ears. Is there something else I can try? I might also add that this has been going on for over a year and I've given up going to the doctor because I always get sent away with no relief.

Hello and welcome to health care magic,

I see that you have a lot of suffering but there are some things which need to be clear before you need to seek treatment.

When you say you have sinus problem do you mean:
- that you have sneezing?..then you have allergy problem which is also in the nose but not related to sinus problem. You have to take an antihistamine like levocet with monteleukast for a long period and gradually reduce in consultation with your ENT

-if you mean that you have nose block then you may have a deviated septum or other cause which has to be properly investigated. Take an CT PNS and get back to me or any ENT with the report

-If you mean that you have headache then you may have a sinus problem which has to be again investigated by a CT brain, a CT PNS and a nasal endoscopy. Get these done and get back to me or any ENT with the report.

Meanwhile try steam inhalation with menthol or any other vaporizer for better relief
avoid dust and cold and do not be in the direct blast of the AC or the Fan

hope this helps

regards

Dr Sriram Nathan
