I am a software engineer working with an MNC as you would know my job requires long hours of sitting in front of the system so due to which I feel a lot of strain in the eye can you suggest me something like exercise or drops which I could use to reduce this. Also my eyes seem to be developing dark circles around them can you suggest something for that too.

The human eye structurally prefers to look at objects further than six meters away, so any work performed close-up puts extra demands on the eye muscles. Fatigue is the most common injury to the eye. Computer users may experience symptoms such as blurred vision, temporary inability to focus on faraway objects and headaches. Long periods of working at a computer can increase the chance of developing an injury. The risks can be reduced or eliminated with proper work space design, improved posture and good working habits. 1) Use an adjustable desk designed for use with computers; position the monitor so that it is either at eye level or slightly lower. 2) Primary light source (such as a window) is not shining into your face or directly onto the monitor. 3) Tilt the monitor slightly to eliminate reflections or glare. 4) 3 meters of space between you and the monitor is essential. 5) Screen or Monitor should be at eye level or slightly lower. 6) Reduce the contrast and brightness of your screen. 7) Frequently look away from the screen and focus on faraway objects. 8) Have regular eye examinations to check that blurring, headaches and other associated problems are not caused by any underlying disorders. Dark circles or Eye circles are dark blemishes around the eyes could be due to many causes like Heredity, Allergies, asthma, and eczema, Medications, Anemia, Fatigue, & Age. There is no end-all to curing or reducing dark circles, there are many home-made ingredients that can help make the dark circles less visible. Some are mentioned here 1) Drink plenty of water up to 10glasses. 2) 8 hours of sleep is a must for such conditions. 3) Close your eyes and apply raw potatoes or cucumber and keep it in place for 15-20 min, wash with warm water and apply cream for next 10 min. 4) apply a mixture of lemon and tomatoes? juice equal parts twice daily. 5) Massage with Almond oil around the eyes daily at bed time for two weeks for improvement. 6) Rub the area with powdered Vitamin E for 5 min and then wipe it with a mixture of honey and egg white.

Welcome to healthcaremagic
the reason for strain during prolong computer work is lack of eye muscle movement.Total area covered by eye movement is very small. There should be frequent intervals during which a good range of eye movements should be performed, this takes care or stagnant blood flow to the area and improves circulation, and frequent blinking will take care of dryness which develops.
