Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m going to my Doctor tomorrow and I am going to ask her about a prescription for my weight lose. Tried different diet plans and due to joint and muscular pain can only walk for short periods. What would you suggest . Healthy and other than vitamins and Mobic is all that I take daily
Hello, I think I can help you. If you want a prescription medication to help with weight loss I have a few ideas. If you were my patient (I am located in the US) and you are healthy I would prescribe Phenteramine. This medication is very effective for weight loss. You should not take it if you have high blood pressure or heart problems. It suppresses your appetite. It is also a controlled substance so some doctors are reluctant to prescribe it but it works very well. If this is not an option, the next thing that I would suggest is Orlistat. This is actually available over the counter but is a little pricey (it is called Alli). This blocks the absorption of fat but it has the terrible side effects of increased flatulence and leakage of stool (yuck!). It works for some people though as long as you stay away from too much fat. Good luck!
