Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Lumbar peritoneal shunts have connections between lumbar cerebrospinal fluid to peritoneal cavity. These shunts have prone for complications.
These include catheter misplacement, catheter dislodgement, valve obstruction, shunt infection, over-drainage, possible revision surgery or removal surgery and intracranial bleeding (acute or delayed).
These shunts are less durable than VP shunts and can require more frequent revision operations.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Lumbar peritoneal shunts are less durable than ventriculo peritoneal shunts.Obstruction or migration of the peritoneal catheter was the most common. HV valve was responsible for shunt malfunction commonly. over drainage or aquired Chiari malformation etc. Please consult your neurosurgeon he will examine and treat you the cause accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
