What Should Be Done To Prevent An STD After Unprotected Intercourse?

Hello Dr. Batra. Just a few hrs ago I had unprotected sex(only briefly 5 sec) with my girlfried before she said to me that she s almost on her period. We stopped, a condom went on. Afterwards I cleaned the tip of my urethra with a rubbing alcohol moistened toothpick, when I removed it there was a tip of red. I cleaned around and in maybe an inch length until there was it was clean. She says she has a clean bill of health as do I. Should I go to hostipal in the morning for some sort of vaccination? Or what should I do?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There is no need to go for vaccination if you both are at good health. If any inflammation appears on the head of the penis, only then consult your physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sumit Kumar
