Hi,

Vaginal discharge can be of two types:
- Physiological discharge:
* Usually expected during ovulatory, premenstrual phase and during intercourse, etc.
* Watery to mucoid in nature
* Not associated with smell and itching

- Pathological discharge:
* Can be seen throughout the month
* Can be in white, yellow, greenish or mixed color
* Associated symptoms like smell, itching, pain, etc. can be seen.

As you are having excessive, white, pasty discharge with associated pain, better to get evaluated. Please consult your gynecologist once, get examined. By clinical examination, the exact nature of the discharge can be identified and treatment can be taken accordingly.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
