What Should One Do About Persistent And Worsening Headaches Despite A CT Scan Indicating A Mild Subdural Hematoma?
My father s head CT scan predicted subdural hematoma three weeks ago. The doctor said it is not much and will go away eventually. Since then his headache is getting worse and worse and we see no sign of improvement. Can the Doctor here suggest what to do?
A subdural hematoma can increase in size over time, leading to potentially severe complications. It should be treated seriously as symptoms are worsening. A repeat CT scan or MRI is often required to check for hematoma expansion or other complications. Take a second opinion, get your father clinically examined by another doctor.
Your father is advised to avoid activities that may increase intracranial pressure (e.g., heavy lifting, straining, or vigorous exercise). Hematoma's can resolve on its own only when small and if symptoms are mild. Get him treated at the earliest. He may need to stay under observation. As per diagnosis he will be given conservative treatment or recommended surgery.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
