Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Should One Do When Their Brother Is Being Physically Verbally Abused By Their Husband?
I am worried about my brother who was verbally and physically attacked by his legally wedded husband. My brother s spouse is 74 years old and showing signs of early mild dementia, but shouldn t excuse his scary brutality. Do I have the right to interfere?
This is a very difficult situation. I will recommend, you talking to your brother about this. I agree that his spouse can not be fully excused, but people with dementia can not be fully blamed either. The best solution would be to get his spouse to actually understand, that some changes is happening with his mind and get him to agree to being diagnosed. This will make it a whole lot easier to deal with.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Kasper Kristensen, General & Family Physician
