What Specialist Doctor Treats Amoebiasis?

My fecalysis result is entamoeba histolytica cyst:0-1/hpf. The internal doctor gave me metronidazole for 7 days because i got amoebiasis as the result of fecalysis. During the medication period i felt drowsiness. The doctor also refer me to gastroentrologist, and she said that i have no amoebiasis. She gave me antacid for my stomach ache. What i am trying to asked is who is right the internal doctor or the gastroentrologist?

Hello,

you went to the right doctor and metronidazole is the main treatment for amebiasis, so completing the course of treatment is essential in the eradication of this parasite.
Drowsiness and stomach pain are known side effects of metronidazole, hence the reason your GI prescribed anti acids.

I wish you a fast recovery and all the best
