What Tests Can Be Done To Identify The Cause Of Severe Headaches?
im going to see dr for my severe headaches that i have had for the past 4 yrs or so . they are not migranes and family has history of brain anorysms my baby brothers had to be medi flight and have coils put in his head and my dads brother had 2 and died from it on the second one. i want to take specific test to check for what ever may be causing my headaches
Headaches can have many different causes so there is not one single test for all the possible causes, depends also on what the doctor suspects by history and physical exam.
If we are considering brain lesions than an MRI would be the test of choice, it would be the most sensitive test for brain-related causes. However, it depends on the suspected cause as I said. If the cause is not a brain lesion such as say anemia or high blood pressure, then a simple blood count or blood pressure measurement may be enough, MRI wouldn't show anything.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
