Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have recently returned from belize with 2 fairly large bug bites - one on the top of my head and the other just below my ear - they started out as a small bite no different than any of the other bites we got - but now they are large and painful - with a clear fluid that leaks out - the gland below my ear is like a hard rock - both bites areas get very sore almost like they are going to explode - like a fire burning in them and then the fluid leaks out - i have been on antibiotics since Monday (we got back on Sunday) - the swelling around the gland has gone down slightly but the pain remains to be quite intense - the Dr I saw just said it was a bite that has gotten infected - I am looking for some advise from anyone who is familiar with bug bites in belize

Infectious Diseases Specialist, Dr. Arun's Response
which ever that bug is. you have to take antibiotics like doxycycline, analgesics like aceclofenac, anti acidity agent like pantoprazole, anti histaminics like chlorpheniramine maleate. also apply neosporing powder over the wound. avoid dust and particle over the wound. bite mark will disappear on their own but it will take some time. thnx
