Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello,
Common Cold can present with fever, running nose and cough. If the cause of the infection is viral, it is unlikely to respond to antibiotics and can last for a week. However, if there is persistent fever and disturbing cough with our without fast breathing, chest infection must be ruled out. Respiratory infections are common in children in India between July and December. Please revisit your son 's pediatrician for a thorough examination to find out if the cold has become a chest infection.
