What To Do For Painful Swelling In The Foot Caused By A Burn?
I have a second degree burn from melted lead (making my own fishing sinkers) on my foot. the skin came right off and now my foot is very swollen and painful. this happened yesterday and I have been putting Neosporin on it .the skin has gotten very tight and tingley. what can I do to relieve the pain and swelling?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your case history of painful swelling, my treatment advice is -
1. Apply ice on the lesions twice daily.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like Fusiderm cream on it.
3. Take a NSAID like Ibuprofen for pain and swelling.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral Lasix given only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks.
