Hi my name is Anil from Mauritius.last month I got a chest infection and I took ciprofloxacin 1 gram for 6 days. And now I got an infection again. My doctor prescribed me ventolin n atrovent inhaler n solupred 20 mg t.d.s for 5 days. I m a nurse working in hospital. Any risk or any other drugs should I take
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM. I can understand your situation and problem. In my opinion you should consult pulmonologist and get done 1. Chest x ray 2. Sputum culture and sensitivity. Chest x ray is needed to diagnose chest infection. And sputum culture is needed to find out the causative organism, sensitivity is needed to guide antibiotic therapy. Since you have taken ciprofloxacin and not improved, better to start appropriate antibiotic according to sensitivity report. As haphazard use of antibiotic can lead to delayed recovery and increase drug resistance. So better to consult pulmonologist and discuss all these and start appropriate treatment.
