hi,
gross fluctuations in sugar levels can be due to many factors like food, stress, un even dug absorption, mismatched insulin and coexisting illnesses like kidney disease.
In your father's case, check whether he has any kidney disease, try to maintain strict diet plan, avoid junk foods and make him exercise for 30 minutes a day.
A chart of 3 hourly glucose levels can really help your doctor to adjust the insulin dosages so that uneven fall or rise can be avoided.
hope this helped.
