What To Do For Swollen Legs And Ankles When Pregnant?

Hi 35 yes old and I am 20 weeks pregnant and around 64kg and have spent the previous 2 days traveling in a car for approx 10 hours, I did take some breaks and did legs exercises in while sitting, however last night (the end of the 2nd day of traveling) my legs/ankles were swollen and my legs seem to be purple/blue and have a number of spider veins and are sore walking, standing and sitting. Have a family history of DVT.

Hi,
You have to be more careful. Keep your legs elevated whenever you can. It would be advisable not to travel now. You shoould get a doppler of both lower legs done if you have a history of DVT. pressure stockings may help some. Make sure that your blood pressure is monitired. I suggest seeking medical attention if the spider veins remain.
