What To Do If Antibiotics Given Double Dose By Mistake?
My two year old is on antibiotics for tosilitus he is on 5ml 4 times a day n this mornin and his dad gave him 5ml of 125mg/ 5ml phenoxymetylpenicillin oral granuals not knowing I gave him the same amout again. he weighs 14.1kg and is 90.3 cm high will he be ok?
don't worry because penicillin dosage can be increased even more if needed. The usual pediatric dosage for this penicillin is 25-50mg/Kg per day which is 352-704mg per day for your son. If you give it three times a day then it's 117-234mg per dose, so there is no problem. Note that penicillin can be given in even higher dosages (even 70mg/Kg/day) so he should have no problem!
Keep a note in the bottle box, so both of you will know when the last dose was given.
I hope it helps! Kind Regards!
