What To Do If Child Has Burning Sensation In Penis When Under Water?

ok, my 11 yr old complains of stinging when he urinates. I asked him if it gets red, and where does it sting. He explained to me that it isn t just the pool it s anytime it gets submerged. He told me it is mid-shaft that burns. We tried vaseline, but after a day of swimming it came off and he was in so much pain. He now doesn t want to go with his friends if they are going to be in any water. Is there a condom or something similar that he could put one on before being in water. Would this help? I hate seeing him saddened to know he really wants to get with with his friends but doesn t want the pain that follows.

Pediatrician 's  Response
by your description it is difficult to say if it is skin problem/urinary infection or stricture of passage. It would be not right to concentrate only for skin barrier. try to find the cause.
if problem is only skin- zinc oxide containing creams , the one used for diaper rashes may be used. no condoms are available for this age and non erectile penis.you may cut fingers of surgical gloves of appropriate size.
